GEMInIS Journal is currently accepting submissions until September 30, 2023, for articles to be featured in the dossier on “AI Narratives: Trends in Audiovisual Production.”
The emergence of algorithms and advanced natural language processing and image generation technologies has given rise to new forms of expression and narrative creation within AI. This development has raised questions about creativity and content production, stimulating the development of applied research projects and creative endeavors.
This dossier aims to bring together works that expand our understanding of the ethical, aesthetic, productive, and cultural implications of the intersection between creativity and AI narratives. We invite discussions on research and practices that are shaping new frontiers in communication and the arts through the potential use of AI-generated images and narratives across all areas of audiovisual production, without distinction.
We accept articles that address a wide range of related topics, including, but not limited to, the following four main themes of interest:
- Ethics and Authorship: Issues related to the ethical use of AI in creative processes; copyright and the redefinition of authorship; the impact of AI in the field of communication and journalism; environmental sustainability, representation, and diversity in audiovisual production in the era of AI.
- Creating Films and Series with AI: Investigations into the narrative, aesthetic, and creative capabilities of AI in cinema, television, games, and music; new roles in audiovisual production; artistic creation platforms with AI; development of creation tools; application of AI resources in event curation; the future of the film industry.
- Non-Human Creativity: New formats and applications for artistic creation; human-machine collaboration in the creation of experimental works; AI in arts and technology: transmedia agency; conceptual models and methodological approaches to the interaction between humans and AI; language technologies and creative communities; alternative and open-source projects for AI.
- AI & Entertainment Platforms: Challenges for multi-platform content producers; the platformization of culture – business models, audience, and user experience; recommendation systems and content personalization; immersive experiences and extended realities – generative AI in interactive media.
The papers can be based on theoretical research, case studies, or professional practices, providing reflections on authorship and creativity in algorithm-generated narratives, contributing to the understanding of this constantly evolving field.

The text should be in Portuguese, Spanish, or English, in DOC format, with a minimum of 7 pages (around 2,500 words) and a maximum of 25 pages (approximately 11,300 words).
